The story follows a mermaid who makes a forbidden wish to be loved by a human. Following her death, she is reborn 200 years later into modern-day Japan in Lake Biwa, where she learns to adjust in a human world.

Ooo reverse isekai! Surprisingly I actually love those despite how bleak the world is right now. This is gonna be so fun!

And hey, if I end up crying at the end I'll probably have Ninja Skooler to cheer me up after I have a good cry so it's a win-win for me!

It's not isekai at all, nothing about that summary indicates that she was from a different world and not just the Earth. To go with the inspiration, it'd be like calling The Little Mermaid a "reverse isekai" because Ariel gets legs and goes to the surface world.

So what if the Little Mermaid reincarnated to modern Japan? So will it just be a straight-up romance soL or will she still be able to transform into her mermaid form?

Will these be series or movies?

Are those stitches on the mermaid girl's tongue? If so, props for the slightly disturbing literary allusion.

Sayonara Lara rolls off the (stitched) tongue so well, I wish they kept that as the English title. Both series look like they'll be really charming though, I'll have to keep an eye out.

Goodbye, Lara's animation reminds me of old Disney animation. A rarity in anime these days.

One small nitpick though, her tongue stitch direction is different in the video thumbnail vs the promotional art (can see better in high res, e.g. Crunchyroll's article)

Maybe it's not an error but is intentional/related to plot?

Both look great, can't wait for them to air.
