Gift is a planet where glittering blue crystals known as Giftium are buried deep underground. A young boy named Sogo Amagi lives in the prosperous mining town of Garden Indigo. Sogo, whose hobby is collecting rare crystals, one day becomes involved in a dispute between classmates. He wanders deep into the ruins of a mine and discovers an underground lake. There, Sogo meets a mysterious blue-haired girl with red eyes and their fateful encounter is the start of a new adventure with their newly formed bond.
The anime premiered in October 2015.
Yuuichi Nomura (Eureka Seven, Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne, Gundam Seed) was credited for the creation of the project, wrote the scripts, and handled series composition. Yasuhito Kikuchi (Infinite Stratos, Macross Frontier) directed the series at studio 8-Bit. Atsushi Nakayama (Absolute Duo) was the series director. Yūichi Takahashi (Gatchaman Crowds, Macross Frontier) was the character designer and chief animation director. Takayuki Yanase (Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Valvrave the Liberator) was the mechanical designer and Tatsuya Katou (Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club, Medaka Box, Gingitsune) composed the music.
The group fhána performed the opening theme song, and voice actress Ayaka Ōhashi perform the ending theme song. fhána and TRUE (Buddy Complex, Sound! Euphonium) both performed image songs for the anime: "Cosmos no yō ni" and "Story of Lucifer," respectively.
