12-episode 1st season to debut in late 2019 or early 2020
Sweden- and L.A.-based production company The Nuttery Entertainment announced on Friday that it is working with writer/producer Roberto Orci (Star Trek films, live-action Transformers) and animation studio ShadowMachine (BoJack Horseman, Robot Chicken) on its upcoming animated series Galaga Chronicles, based on the 1981 arcade game Galaga.
Orci commented on the series:
In the initial development, we have focused on creating a solid foundation of the meta universe - building out an intricate and vast tapestry of intergalactic politics, strife, and endless new possibilities. The first series is a small part in the grand scheme and will be a story of hope, sacrifice, and family - all wrapped up in what is shaping up to be an incredible sci-fi adventure with some really awesome characters. This first series will lay the groundwork for the entire meta universe and many more installments to come.
The show is planned for a 12-episode first season, and Variety reports that it is expected to debut in late 2019 or early 2020. The Nuttery Entertainment announced the project in July 2017.
Namco's Galaga is a classic alien defense game where players fly a ship and take on descending waves of invaders.
