The final chapter of Masato Isshiki's Battle Spirits Saikyō Ginga Ultimate Zero manga ran in the September issue of Shueisha's Saikyō Jump magazine on Friday. The manga is based on the sixth and latest television anime series inspired by Bandai's Battle Spirits card game. The series launched in September 2013 and the second compiled volume shipped on May 2.
The magazine also announced a new Battle Spirits manga will start on October 3. The text reads, "They wish for just one thing and that thing is somewhere in the universe. The Ultimate Battle Spirit!! Rei and his group's journey to seek the 'Ultimate Battle Spirit' isn't over yet! The Ultimate Special Arc starts in the next issue!!"
The associated anime series also launched in September 2013 and the 42nd episode aired on Sunday.
The Battle Spirits anime franchise launched with the 50-episode Battle Spirits: Shōnen Toppa Bashin series on September 7, 2008. The anime adapted Bandai's original trading card game, in which cards represent dragons, demons, birds, insects, and other spirits that the players can control in battles. Bandai imported the game to America in 2009.
