Cup Noodles Re-Invents Ramen as Ice Cream
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Nissin's Cup Noodles is no stranger to anime tie-ins and over-the-top commercials to sell its fast, microwavable food. The company is now adding a strange flavor to the menu by removing the noodles all together.
The multi-floor Cup Noodles Museum (yes, the food has its own museum), is an interactive exhibit detailing the history of Nissin Foods founder and instant ramen inventor Momofuku Ando. The museum has welcomed over four million visitors and is marking the occasion by reinventing ramen again—this time as ice cream.
Two variations will be sold at the NOODLES BAZAAR -World Noodles Road- food court. Pictured on the left is soy sauce-flavored soft serve ice cream and on the right is curry flavored ice cream. Both versions include Daisuminchi, shrimp, green onions, and egg toppings. It doesn't look like the toppings are sweets disguised as typical savory toppings but actual shrimp in ice cream.
Each costs 300 yen (about Us$2.50).
