Pretty boys aren't just for anime and video games. Thousands of Kantō region boys vied for the chance to call themselves the hottest high school boy in the area, in a contest that feels like a manga set-up.
The first and second place winners of the 2nd "Kantō High School Mr. Contest 2014" for the Uniform High School Festival 2014 event were chosen on Sunday. From 1,000 applicants, seven finalists competed for the title and the opportunity to appear in Samurai ELO fashion magazine.
Ultimately, second year high school student Takamichi Satō was crowned most handsome. Satō, whose dream is to be the next Kamen Rider, expressed his overwhelming joy at the event.
First-year student and runner-up Kōsuke Shōji commented, "Everyone [of the contestants] is handsome, so I'm truly happy to get 2nd place overall." Both will appear in the magazine.
